Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Legacy DPC

What is Direct Primary Care (DPC)?

Direct Primary Care is a healthcare model where you pay a monthly membership fee directly to your doctor. We do not bill your insurance. Excluding insurance allows for longer appointments, better access, and a true doctor-patient relationship without the hassles of traditional insurance billing.

Do I still need health insurance?

Yes! DPC covers your primary care needs, but you should still have insurance for unexpected hospitalizations, specialists, surgeries, and emergency care. Many patients pair DPC with a catastrophic plan or health-sharing ministry for emergency coverage.

Can I use my HSA or FSA to pay for DPC?

Beginning January 1, 2026, new federal rules allow many patients to use HSA funds to pay for Direct Primary Care (DPC) memberships. If your plan allows it, you may be able to use pre-tax HSA dollars for your membership fee — check with your benefits administrator to confirm coverage.

What's the difference between the 90-Day Program and membership?

The 90-Day Transformation Program is a one-time, goal-focused program perfect for addressing a very specific health concern. Membership to Legacy functions as ongoing care for all of your primary care needs.

How do virtual visits work?

You'll receive a link to join the virtual visit from your device with a camera and internet connection. Virtual care is convenient, saves travel time, and research shows it's just as effective as in-person visits for many primary care needs. In-person visitis are also available when needed.

What if I need labs or imaging?

I'll order any necessary labs or imaging, and you can get them done where you prefer. We do not have onsite phlebotomy. Labs can be completed nearby with LabCorp at a discounted rate. Lab interpretation and discussion is included in your care.

Do you prescribe medications?

Yes! I can prescribe medications when needed and will send prescriptions to your preferred pharmacy. While my focus is on lifestyle medicine and reducing medication dependence when possible, I absolutely prescribe when it's medically necessary.

What states do you practice in?

I'm currently licensed to practice in North Carolina. If you're interested in care but live outside North Carolina, please reach out via the Contact Form and I'll notify you if I become licensed in your state.

What does the Membership include?

Membership includes primary care visits with the same doctor, direct communication with your doctor, and coordination of your care. There are no co-pays or surprise bills for membership care.

What visits are included?

Management of chronic conditions (e.g., high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma), sick visits, your annual physical, follow-up visits, and some urgent care visits.

What if I need to see a specialist?

I'll help coordinate your care with specialists when needed. I can provide referrals and stay in communication with them to ensure you get comprehensive care. Your DPC membership covers my time coordinating this care.

Do you accept Medicare or Medicaid?

In order to provide longer visits, easier access, and more personalized care, the practice does not participate in Medicare or Medicaid. This allows us to focus fully on a simple membership model centered on you - not insurance rules.

How quickly can I get an appointment?

Appointments are typically conducted within 48 hours of their request. This may vary depending on demand. For urgent concerns, same-day visits are often possible.
